Epidemiological surveillance in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Update as of November 18, 2020.

Key Points

  • COVID-19: Most indicators are declining. Impact remains significant in hospitals and long-term care facilities

  • Winter epidemics:

    • bronchiolitis: activity in emergency departments and at SOS Médecins clinics is lower than in previous years; this situation is partly due to the implementation of COVID-19 prevention measures and the restriction of emergency department visits to urgent cases only

    • Gastroenteritis: Activity in emergency departments and at SOS Médecins clinics is lower than in previous years. This situation is partly due to the implementation of Covid-related safety measures and the requirement to visit emergency departments only for urgent reasons

    • Influenza: Activity remains low

  • Chikungunya, dengue, Zika: Since the start of surveillance, 112 confirmed cases of dengue—imported mainly from French departments in the Americas—and 10 locally acquired cases have been reported. Additionally, one case of chikungunya imported from Cambodia has been reported.
