Key Points

COVID-19

In Week 12, viral circulation continues to show a sharp increase, although the rise is less pronounced than in the previous week. Regional
incidence and positivity rates are rising (1,747 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in Week 12, representing a 41% increase, and 29.5%, representing a 1.2 percentage point increase). The increase in the testing rate is similar to that of the incidence rate (5,915 per 100,000 inhabitants, a 35% increase).

Across the region, the number of active conventional hospitalizations is rising (80 hospitalizations as of March 27 vs. 70 on March 20). The number in intensive care remains stable (7 hospitalizations on March 27 vs. 6 on March 20).

Influenza

  • Emergency Departments - Fifty-five visits related to flu-like illness were recorded in the emergency departments in Week 12, representing 3.0% of total emergency department visits, an increase compared to the previous week (2.2%). Three hospitalizations were recorded in Week 12, compared to 4 the previous week.

  • SOS Médecins - Two hundred twenty-five consultations for flu-like illness were conducted by SOS Médecins in Week 12, representing 12.8% of total activity, a slight decrease compared to the previous week (14.1% in Week 11).

  • Sentinelles Network - In Week 12, the incidence rate for influenza-like illnesses, not yet finalized, is 462 per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [312; 412]). In Week 11, this rate was 342 per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [228; 456]).

  • Surveillance of influenza/COVID-19 cases admitted to intensive care - Since January 2020, 152 severe cases of influenza/COVID-19 in intensive care have been reported, including 1 case of influenza, hospitalized at Bastia General Hospital in S02. No new cases have been reported since last week’s update.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Emergency departments - Emergency department activity related to gastroenteritis in S12 continues to decline compared to the previous week. It accounts for 1.9% of emergency department activity (vs. 2.3% the previous week).

  • SOS Médecins - Activity at the SOS Médecins association related to gastroenteritis in Week 12 is down very slightly compared to the previous week. It accounts for 2.4% of the association’s total activity (vs. 2.6% the previous week).

  • Réseau Sentinelles - In week 12, the incidence rate is 33 per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [0; 71]). In week 11, the incidence rate was 34 per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [2; 66])
