COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Corsica as of June 11, 2020

Key indicators

  • Sentinelles Network: No consultations for acute respiratory infections were reported in S23;

  • SOS-Médecins: 2% of consultations were for COVID-19 in S23, with activity remaining very low;

  • Laboratories (community and hospital-based): positivity rate of 0.5%, which remains very low;

  • Emergency departments: 1% of visits were COVID-19-related in S23, with activity remaining low;

  • Nursing homes: no new cases among residents since late April. Thirteen residents have died in nursing homes and 10 in hospitals since monitoring began;

  • Hospitalized COVID-19 cases (SI-VIC): 26 patients hospitalized (across all departments) as of June 9, including 6 in intensive care (COVID-19-specific or otherwise). The number of hospitalized patients has remained stable since June 3;

  • All-cause mortality: mortality remains around the expected seasonal figures (data for the last week not yet consolidated);

  • Clusters: A cluster of 3 people has been identified in Corsica since the lifting of lockdown on May 11; this cluster has now been contained.

For several weeks now, epidemiological indicators of SARS-CoV-2 circulation have remained at low to very low levels in Corsica. There is currently no evidence to suggest a resurgence of the epidemic.
