Surveillance of Occupational Diseases in the Pays de la Loire Region: Results for the First Half of 2023
This brochure presents data from the 2023 Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSD) Screening Weeks conducted in the Pays de la Loire region. During the 2023 Screening Weeks, 32% of employees seen as part of their return to work following a leave of absence, or in preparation for that return, were diagnosed with an MSD by the occupational physician. This rate is 17% for employees seen during their periodic check-ups. The frequency of reported MCPs varies little across different sectors of activity. Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) account for 46% of reported MCPs. When these fall under the category of occupational diseases, the majority (86%) of employees have not initiated any steps to apply for recognition from their Social Security office. Depression, occupational burnout, and other forms of work-related psychological distress represent the second largest group of reported MCPs (37%).
