Outbreaks of acute respiratory infections (ARI) and acute gastroenteritis (AGE) are common in nursing homes for the elderly (Ehpad) and have a significant impact on residents’ health and the disruption of services.The first national recommendations defining the procedures to follow in the event of one or more cases of ARI occurring in nursing homes were issued in 2006. A recent update to these recommendations was carried out by the High Council for Public Health (HCSP) in October 2012. In addition, recommendations regarding the procedures to follow in the event of a GEA in an Ehpad were also published by the HCSP in January 2010. [...]
