Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of May 12, 2023.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • In recent weeks, the incidence rate remained low and the positivity rate was stable at a moderate level. Demand for medical care (SOS Médecins visits and emergency room visits for suspected COVID-19, new hospitalizations, and new admissions to intensive care) also remained low.

Flu and Flu-Like Illness

  • The Pays de la Loire region has been at the end of the flu season since Week 16.

Allergies and asthma attacks

  • During this pollen season, an increase in SOS Médecins calls for allergies was observed in Week 18 compared to previous weeks. However, healthcare utilization for asthma attacks (emergency department visits and SOS Médecins calls) has generally remained stable over the past two weeks and is in line with levels observed during the two previous seasons.

  • A peak in allergy-related consultations is likely in the coming weeks: during the three previous seasons, a peak in SOS Médecins calls was observed between weeks 20 and 23.
