Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of June 16, 2014.

Over the past week in the region:

First reports of enterovirus meningitis at Nantes University Hospital; Following a period of summer-like temperatures, an increase in patient visits for heatstroke and insect bites reported by doctors at SOS Médecins Nantes; This is also the season for plankton blooms, which render mussels unfit for consumption in certain coastal areas (see p. 10). Dinoflagellates, which are usually the cause, trigger a diarrheal syndrome within hours of consumption.
