Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of July 5, 2016.

Over the past week in the region:

Cases of enterovirus meningitis observed at the Nantes and Angers university hospitals are less frequent than in previous years. A national update on these infections is available on the Santé publique France website.

As expected at this time of year, there has been a spike in consultations for isolated fevers (without respiratory symptoms), primarily at SOS Médecins. This spike affects all age groups and is likely viral in origin; it should decline rapidly with the start of school holidays.

Consultations with SOS Médecins or at the pediatric emergency department of the Nantes University Hospital for asthma exacerbations, mainly in children, coinciding with pollen counts.

Persistent reports of lipophilic toxins in shellfish in the Loire-Atlantique and northern Vendée regions, leading to bans on shellfish harvesting.
