Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of July 31, 2017.

Over the past week in the region:

The decline in enterovirus meningitis cases (emergency departments and university hospital virology laboratories) has continued since the peak in early July. A national update on these infections has just been published at the following link: click here: during June and July, the weekly number of cases was higher than that observed during the same period in the two previous years, confirming that the enterovirus meningitis outbreak has been more severe this year, as was observed in 2011. To date, no increase in the number of severe clinical cases, particularly neurological ones, has been reported. The regional report on the heat wave that occurred from June 17 to 23, 2017, in the Pays de la Loire region is available online: click here. No SOS Médecins consultations or emergency room visits for heatstroke were recorded during the past week.Note that phytoplankton contamination has been detected in mussel farms in the Vilaine estuary (between Pont Mahé, Penbé, and Île Dumet), leading to a prefectural order banning the fishing and sale of mussels in these areas.
