Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of July 13, 2023
Key Points
COVID-19
As of July 1, 2023, the SI-DEP screening information system has been discontinued, and the specific data entry guidelines for SI-VIC have been lifted. Virological and hospital indicators are therefore no longer available. Santé publique France continues to monitor COVID-19 through its multi-source surveillance system, which still includes indicators related to genomic surveillance, calls to SOS Médecins, and hospital emergency department visits. A new virological surveillance system will also be implemented in the coming weeks. These changes are part of an effort to standardize COVID-19 surveillance and gradually integrate it into the routine monitoring of respiratory epidemics.
Given the currently favorable epidemic situation, the Pays de la Loire Regional Epidemiological Bulletin page dedicated to COVID-19 surveillance is suspended for the summer period.
Extreme heat, heat wave
Since June 1, no heatwave episodes have been observed in the region. Healthcare utilization for heat-related conditions was down in Week 27 compared to previous weeks.
Dengue, Chikungunya, Zika
6 cases of dengue since May 1, 2023.
Allergies and asthma attacks
SOS Médecins calls for allergies continued to decline in recent weeks following a sharp spike observed in Week 22. The same was true for healthcare visits for asthma attacks: following a sharp increase observed in Week 23 due to weather conditions (high temperatures and stormy weather) and the pollen season (particularly grasses), a decline in healthcare visits for asthma attacks was observed in Week 24, followed by overall stability in recent weeks.
