Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of December 8, 2015.

Over the past week in the region:

  • The seasonal bronchiolitis outbreak, which has been ongoing for four weeks, continues to spread (based on SOS Médecins consultations and visits to the pediatric emergency departments at the Nantes and Angers university hospitals). The number of positive RSV isolates is also increasing in the virology laboratories of the two university hospitals. This outbreak is impacting the number of emergency room visits by infants under one year of age, with nearly 700 visits instead of the 400 expected in the region’s seven sentinel hospitals during week 49.

  • There have been several clusters of acute respiratory infections (ARI) in nursing homes, with 21 new outbreaks since the beginning of September.
