Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of December 4, 2012

Over the past week in the region:

An ongoing bronchiolitis outbreak with: - a sharp increase in the number of emergency room visits by infants under one year of age across the region; - an increase in bronchiolitis diagnoses made by emergency room physicians at Nantes University Hospital and by the two SOS Médecin associations; - active circulation of RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) in the region.

A first severe case of influenza has been reported by an intensive care unit in the region. No significant increase in consultations for flu-like symptoms.
