Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of December 10, 2014.
Over the past week in the region:
The bronchiolitis outbreak is spreading in the western part of the region, with a significant increase in visits to the pediatric emergency department at Nantes University Hospital, SOS Médecins calls for bronchiolitis, and RSV isolates at the virology laboratory at Nantes University Hospital. This outbreak has led to a significant increase in visits by infants under one year of age to Nantes University Hospital.
In contrast, in the eastern part of the region, no significant impact has yet been noted on visits by children under one year of age to the pediatric emergency departments in Angers and Le Mans, and only a single RSV has been isolated at the Angers University Hospital.
Over the past 9 months, there has been a significant decline in invasive meningococcal infections, particularly of serogroup B, which has also been observed in other regions.
