Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of April 8, 2015.

Over the past week in the region:

  • The Flu Outbreak The flu outbreak is over. There is still some circulation of influenza B viruses. A few cases of severe flu have still been hospitalized in intensive care over the past two weeks.

  • 207 clusters of acute respiratory infections (ARI) and 95 clusters of acute gastroenteritis (AGE) have been reported since September 1, 2014. No new ARI clusters have been reported in the past 3 weeks. Emergency department visits by people aged 75 and older have fallen just below the alert thresholds. Only the Roche-sur-Yon Hospital Center has continued to report a number of visits slightly above the threshold for the past two consecutive weeks.

  • The epidemic threshold for gastroenteritis continues to be exceeded, particularly among children under 5 years of age (visits to the pediatric emergency departments at the Nantes University Hospital and SOS Médecins), likely due to an outbreak of rotavirus infections.
