Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of April 4, 2017.
Over the past week in the region:
The number of SOS Médecins consultations and emergency room visits for gastroenteritis among children under 5 remains high due to the circulation of rotavirus. An outbreak of rotavirus gastroenteritis was recently confirmed in a nursing home in the region.Since 2015, France has observed a trend toward an increase in the incidence of invasive meningococcal infections caused by serogroup W and a high case fatality rate, linked to the spread of a new variant. With 3 cases reported over the past 8 months, the Pays de la Loire region remains less affected compared to other regions. This situation calls for vigilance and underscores the importance of sending every meningococcal strain to the National Reference Center for Genotyping. With the winter season now over, the Epidemiological Bulletin will be published less frequently (every two weeks). A comprehensive review of the 2016–2017 winter outbreaks will be conducted based on consolidated data.
