Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of April 23, 2021.
Key Points
COVID-19
In the Pays de la Loire region, indicators of SARS-CoV-2 circulation remained at high levels in S15 across all departments in the region, consistent with other data sources reflecting viral circulation (clusters, reports from social and medical-social institutions—ESMS, etc.). At the same time, the indicators continued to show a significant impact on the healthcare system and healthcare utilization.
Gastroenteritis
Following a marked increase in emergency department visits for gastroenteritis among children under 5 in S13, a stable but high level was generally observed in S14 and S15.
Bronchiolitis
Ninth week of the bronchiolitis epidemic among children under two years of age in the Pays de la Loire region. A clear decrease in calls to SOS Médecins for bronchiolitis was observed in Week 15, along with a less pronounced decrease in emergency department visits. However, RSV isolations among hospitalized patients remain high for the time being.
