Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of April 22, 2015.

Over the past week in the region:

  • The number of gastroenteritis diagnoses has fallen below the epidemic threshold; this decline is particularly marked among children under 5 years of age (visits to the pediatric emergency department at Nantes University Hospital and SOS Médecins).

  • Emergency room visits by people aged 75 and older remain above the alert threshold. Deaths among people aged 85 and older have been rising above the threshold for the past week; this increase will be confirmed next week.

  • The flu epidemic has ended, and surveillance data are being presented this week for the last time this season.

  • The number of cases of invasive meningococcal serogroup C infections is significant, with 8 new cases since the beginning of 2015; this number should be viewed in light of the insufficient meningococcal vaccination coverage in the region.
