The Pilot Network for Epidemiological Surveillance of Musculoskeletal Disorders in the Pays de la Loire Region: Objectives and General Methodology.

The Occupational Health Department of the French Institute for Public Health Surveillance (InVS) has proposed a national surveillance program for musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) to the Directorate of Labor Relations. The Pays de la Loire region was selected to implement a pilot program. This program aims to establish an observatory for work-related MSDs. The objectives are to: describe the frequency and trends of the main MSDs and the working conditions associated with them, as well as their distribution by industry and occupation, both in the general population and within companies; determine the proportion of MSDs attributable to various types of occupational factors; and explore the use of medical and administrative data on MSDs of the limbs and spine for epidemiological surveillance purposes.
