Epidemiological Situation

The conjunctivitis outbreak that has been raging on the island since the start of the school year in January has intensified over the past two weeks and continues to spread. Various health indicators show an increase in consultations for conjunctivitis in both private practice and hospitals. All municipalities are affected by this outbreak. Microbiological investigations are currently underway to identify the pathogen responsible for this outbreak. Conjunctivitis has also been spreading in Mauritius for several weeks, and a viral cause (adenovirus) has been identified in many cases.
