  • Half of reported cases occur in the heterosexual population; one-quarter occur in women of childbearing age.

  • Two cases of congenital syphilis reported in 2017, both confirmed according to CDC classification.

Gonococcal infections

  • Increase in the number of gonococcal infection cases among the heterosexual population.

  • For the first time, a decrease in the number of gonococcal infection cases among men who have sex with men, to be confirmed with 2018 data.

  • Increase in the proportion of asymptomatic infections, regardless of sexual orientation.
