Key points

Smallpox B (Mpox)

  • Two confirmed cases imported from Madagascar were identified in Réunion in S05 and S07/2026.

Leptospirosis

  • A seasonal resurgence of leptospirosis is currently underway at a high level, with 32 cases reported since the beginning of the year.

Chikungunya and dengue

  • A few locally transmitted cases of arboviral diseases have been reported since the start of the year. To date, 11 locally transmitted cases of dengue and 11 locally transmitted cases of chikungunya have been detected. All are located in the western and southern regions.

Malaria

  • Since December, there has been an increase in the number of imported malaria cases, primarily among travelers returning from the Comoros. Nine cases were reported in December and 17 in January.

Flu-like syndrome

  • Health indicators show very low activity.

Bronchiolitis in children under 2

  • Health and virological indicators are at baseline levels. No health impact.

COVID-19

  • Health and virological indicators are on the rise

Gastroenteritis

  • Significant decline in hospital and outpatient activity.
