Key Points

Leptospirosis

  • A seasonal outbreak of unprecedented scale, with a record number of cases reported during the month of February.

  • Since January 1, 2024, 113 biologically confirmed indigenous cases of leptospirosis have been reported to the ARS, 14 more than the previous week. This number of reported cases in 2024 is particularly high when compared to the past two years (which correspond to the highest incidence rates recorded in Réunion).

Dengue

  • Upward trend with the beginning of geographical spread of cases. The circulating serotype is DENV2.

  • Ongoing outbreak in Mauritius/Rodrigues.

COVID-19

  • The level of COVID-19 viral circulation is stable and low.

Influenza

  • Number of emergency room visits is decreasing.

  • Number of hospitalizations remains stable.

Bronchiolitis

  • The number of emergency room visits is down slightly.

  • 30% decrease in new hospitalizations compared to the previous week.

Gastroenteritis

  • Number of emergency room visits rising for the third consecutive week.
