Key Points

COVID-19

  • Extremely marked acceleration in viral circulation across Réunion

  • Increased health impact with a rise in new hospitalizations (+48%)

  • Continued increase in A0C0 screening PCR tests confirming the spread of the Omicron variant in Réunion

Bronchiolitis

There has been a decrease in emergency room visits and a stabilization in hospitalizations due to bronchiolitis among children
under 2 years of age compared to the previous week. The proportion of cases is also decreasing. With the decline in bronchiolitis surveillance
indicators, Réunion remains in the pre-epidemic phase.

involved children under 15 years of age (58% of all ILI visits). Four hospitalizations were
reported in week 52, including 3 among children under 15 years of age. In primary care, the number of consultations for acute respiratory infections (ARI) was down
, despite the absence of several doctors from the sentinel network in Réunion (due to the southern hemisphere summer break).
