COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Mayotte as of January 20, 2022
Key Points
Over the past week, a downward trend in the indicators has been observed. The number of new cases and the positivity rate are decreasing.
The incidence of COVID-19 fell from 2,573 cases per 100,000 residents in week 01-2022 to 1,145 cases per 100,000 residents in week 02-2022, representing a 56% decrease in one week. This decline is observed across all age groups, but it is much more pronounced among those aged 15 and older.
The epidemic peak was surpassed in week S01-2022, and the epidemic trend points toward a decline in monitoring indicators.
However, given the current situation regarding the circulation of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in Mayotte—particularly the Omicron variant, which is the dominant strain in the territory—and the resumption of in-person classes, let’s remain vigilant!
