COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Mayotte as of April 1, 2021
Key Points
The peak of the second wave of COVID-19 in Mayotte was reached in week 6 of 2021. In weeks 8 and 9, the indicators saw a significant drop. Since then, the number of new cases has continued to decline across the territory.
In week 12, the incidence rate (67.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants), although decreasing, remains above the alert threshold (50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants). The positivity rate (5.5%) is below the alert threshold for the second consecutive week.
Variants: results of rapid testing. Among the screened samples, the proportion of suspected variants carrying the 501Y mutation in the region exceeds 80%.
