COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Mayotte as of April 1, 2021

Key Points

The peak of the second wave of COVID-19 in Mayotte was reached in week 6 of 2021. In weeks 8 and 9, the indicators saw a significant drop. Since then, the number of new cases has continued to decline across the territory.

  • In week 12, the incidence rate (67.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants), although decreasing, remains above the alert threshold (50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants). The positivity rate (5.5%) is below the alert threshold for the second consecutive week.

  • Variants: results of rapid testing. Among the screened samples, the proportion of suspected variants carrying the 501Y mutation in the region exceeds 80%.
