Cholera in Mayotte. Update as of June 6, 2024.
Key Points
Between May 30 and June 5, 2024, 23 cases of cholera were reported in Mayotte, bringing the total number of cases recorded in the department since March 18, 2024, to 148 (144 confirmed and 4 probable cases).
Of these, 128 were locally acquired and 20 were imported.
There are five epidemic clusters, two of which are active in the department: two clusters in Koungou, one of which is still active, totaling 76 cases; one cluster in M’tsangamouji (16 cases); one cluster in Passamainty that is still active (25 cases); and a family cluster detected in Cavani with no community spread in the neighborhood.
Three new cases detected outside known outbreak clusters.
Fourteen severe cases requiring intensive care and two confirmed deaths have been recorded.
