Chikungunya and Dengue in Réunion. Bulletin dated January 27, 2025.
Key Points
There have been 339 cases of chikungunya on the island since August 23, 2024. This week, the previously identified active chikungunya outbreaks continue to report cases, confirming their persistence. The outbreak in Ravine Sheunon in Etang Salé remains very active, as do those along the 400-meter line (St. Pierre/Le Tampon) and in Bras Creux (Le Tampon).
However, the geographic spread is marked by significant dispersion, with cases now reported in 16 municipalities. This expansion illustrates the continued spread of chikungunya across the island.
Furthermore, since the beginning of the year, dengue activity has remained low, with 4 cases detected.
