Chickenpox Surveillance in Réunion. Epidemiological Update as of October 5, 2015.

Epidemiological Situation

Every year, an increase in consultations for chickenpox is observed in Réunion, generally beginning in late August or early September. In 2015, starting in week 36 (early September), an increase in consultations for chickenpox at sentinel clinics has been observed. During week 39 (September 21–27), a sharp increase in these consultations was reported, significantly exceeding seasonal averages. An increase in emergency room visits for this condition was also observed in the island’s emergency departments.
