Surveillance in the Occitanie region. Update as of February 3, 2022.

Key Points

COVID-19

Overall, in week 04-2022, while positivity rates were rising in all departments, incidence indicators were stabilizing or even declining depending on the region. However, this trend may be partly due to a decrease in testing rates.

Bronchiolitis

End of the epidemic. After one week in the post-epidemic phase (02-2022), the continued decline in indicators in Occitanie signals the end of the winter epidemic after 13 weeks in the epidemic phase—an exceptionally long duration this year compared to previous years. Indicators continue to decline, and the region is at the green level for week 03-2022.

Influenza

The region has been in the epidemic phase for 7 weeks. After an outbreak in the eastern part of the region in late December, indicators declined in early January and have plateaued over the past 4 weeks. Intra-regional disparities and weekly fluctuations persist.

Acute Gastroenteritis

  • OSCOUR: Gastroenteritis activity was high in week 04-2022 (Figure 13). Visits across all age groups for a diagnosis of gastroenteritis were on the rise compared to the previous week, particularly among children under 5 and even under 15 (Figure 14). In week 04-2022, 645 visits for gastroenteritis were recorded, representing 2.3% of total visits, including 457 for patients under 5 years of age (versus 627 visits in week 03-2022, including 405 for those under 5).

  • SOS Médecins: Gastroenteritis activity was low in week 04-2022 (Figure 15). Procedures for a diagnosis of gastroenteritis were stable compared to the previous week across all age groups but increased among children under 5 years of age (Figure 16). In week 04-2022, 196 procedures for this diagnosis were recorded (representing 6.4% of the overall activity of the SOS Médecins associations), including 72 for patients under 5 years of age (versus 205 procedures, including 59 for children under 5, in week 03-2022).

  • Sentinel data: the incidence rate of acute diarrhea cases seen in general practice was 92 per 100,000 [56; 128], stable compared to the previous week (82 per 100,000).
