Surveillance of arboviral diseases in Occitanie. Epidemiological update as of October 13, 2017.

In Occitanie, since May 1, 2017, 77 suspected cases have been reported in the 10 departments under enhanced surveillance: - no locally acquired cases have been confirmed- 23 imported cases (i.e., returning from areas where the virus is circulating) of dengue, 3 of Zika, 1 of flavivirus, and 0 of chikungunya have been confirmed- Confirmed cases of dengue originate primarily from Africa (Ivory Coast), Asia (Sri Lanka), and Oceania (French Polynesia)- Confirmed cases of Zika were imported from the Americas (Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador)
Nationally, from May 1 to October 13, 2017: - Two epidemiologically linked outbreaks of local chikungunya transmission have been identified in a neighborhood of the town of Le Cannet-des-Maures since August 11, 2017, and in the town of Taradeau since September 15, 2017. As of October 9, 2017, 13 confirmed cases (detection of the virus by PCR) and 3 probable cases (detection of anti-chikungunya IgM antibodies) have been identified (Cannet-des-Maures: 8 confirmed and 2 probable; Taradeau: 5 confirmed and 1 probable). The most recent case developed symptoms on September 9, 2017. On September 26, 2017, a locally acquired case of Zika in a resident of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region was identified. This was a case of sexual transmission from an infected partner during a trip abroad to the Caribbean. - 121 imported cases (i.e., returning from areas where the virus is circulating) of dengue, 11 cases of Zika, 4 cases of flavivirus, and 3 cases of chikungunya have been confirmed.
