Surveillance of arboviral diseases in Occitanie. Epidemiological update as of August 25, 2017.

Key Points

In Occitanie, since May 1, 2017, 55 suspected cases have been reported in the 10 departments under enhanced surveillance:

  • - no locally acquired cases have been confirmed

  • - 15 imported cases (i.e., returning from areas where the virus is circulating) of dengue, 3 of Zika, 1 of flavivirus, and 0 of chikungunya have been confirmed

Nationwide, from May 1 to August 25, 2017:

  • - Since August 11, 2017, an outbreak of local transmission of chikungunya has been identified in a neighborhood of the town of Le Cannet-des-Maures. As of August 22, 2017, four confirmed cases and one probable case have been identified

  • - 79 imported cases of dengue (i.e., from travelers returning from areas where the virus is circulating), 7 cases of Zika, 3 cases of flavivirus, and 2 cases of chikungunya have been confirmed
