Key Event - Cold Snap in Metropolitan France

Since Saturday, January 28, and particularly starting Wednesday, February 1, mainland France has been facing a severe cold snap accompanied locally by heavy snowfall and the occurrence of black ice and/or strong winds. In Midi-Pyrénées, all departments in the region except Hautes-Pyrénées are under an orange alert for "extreme cold" issued by Météo France. On February 10, Ariège, Aveyron, Gers, and Lot remain at mobilization level 3 (the highest level), corresponding to the “extreme cold” category as defined in the interministerial circular on winter measures for the homeless.
