Air pollution episodes on December 27 and 28, 2011, in Midi-PyrénéesOn December 27 and 28, 2011, ORAMIP initiated five public information procedures over two days due to episodes of air pollution caused by particulate matter smaller than 10 microns (PM10) in Toulouse (12/28), Tarbes (12/27 and 12/28), Castres (12/27), and nitrogen dioxide in Albi (12/27). The main cause of this pollution is the accumulation—due to very stable atmospheric conditions and light winds—of particulate matter or nitrogen dioxide, emitted primarily by vehicles, heating systems, and industrial facilities.
