Public Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of October 26, 2012

Key points:

  • Regional Surveillance of Vector-Borne Diseases: To date, no locally acquired cases have been detected. Nine cases of dengue and two cases of chikungunya, both imported following travel, have been confirmed among the 110 reports of suspected cases received in our region.

  • Regional surveillance of respiratory diseases- Bronchiolitis: low activity in the region (increasing in France),- Bronchitis: low activity,- Pneumonia: low activity, but increasing,- Asthma: normal activity, comparable to data from the previous year.

  • Gastroenteritis Surveillance: Low activity for this condition in emergency departments, while data from the SOS Médecins associations (reasons for calls and diagnoses) show an increase in activity that is slightly higher than what was observed in 2011.
