Public Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of November 28, 2013.
Key points
Bronchiolitis: slight increase in calls to the SOS Médecins hotlines in Nîmes and Perpignan, while emergency departments are still seeing few cases of this illness in children under 2 years of age; the outbreak is active nationwide.
Influenza / Flu-like syndromes: low activity in the Languedoc-Roussillon region and in France; a few sporadic cases in outpatient settings.
Gastroenteritis: low activity in France; data from the Sentinelles network (unconsolidated) show a regional incidence rate slightly above the national epidemic threshold; SOS Médecins data show a slight upward trend in the number of diagnoses (at a level equivalent to that of the same period last year), while emergency department visits remain very low.
Scabies: Following numerous reports of suspected scabies cases, the health surveillance and emergency platform wishes to provide some reminders in the event of one or more scabies cases.
