Public Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of July 5, 2012

Key points:

  • Emergency department activity: Some capacity limits were exceeded over the weekend in several departments. However, these exceedances remained moderate and may be linked to the first influx of tourists observed in the region. Indeed, the proportion of patients not usually residing in the Languedoc-Roussillon region is on the rise.

  • Summer surveillance: the monitored indicators remained relatively stable.

  • Vector-borne disease surveillance: Since the start of surveillance, 55 reports of suspected chikungunya/dengue cases have been received. Among these, 3 cases of dengue imported during travel to an endemic area have been confirmed. There have been no locally acquired cases so far.
