Public Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of July 12, 2012

Key points:

  • Hospital Activity: Data from the Oscour® network make it possible to assess the proportion of patients visiting emergency departments who do not usually reside in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. In week 2012-27, these patients accounted for just over 15% of all patients. Data from the regional monitoring and alert server showed only a few minor exceedances of the thresholds for total first-time visits, while all other indicators remained below the statistical thresholds.

  • Heat-related surveillance: Visits to emergency departments for conditions that may be heat-related are infrequent.

  • Vector-borne Disease SurveillanceOver the past 7 days, 6 reports were received, bringing the total number of suspected chikungunya/dengue cases to 60. Among these reports, 3 cases of dengue imported during travel to an endemic area were identified. To date, no cases of local transmission have been reported.
