Hospital Activity Monitoring: A few instances of exceeding departmental thresholds were observed regarding the total number of visits on January 1 and 2, without an increase in the number of hospitalizations. Indicators returned to their baseline levels in the following days. Activity among SOS Médecins associations is on the rise, in line with the spread of various epidemics. However, contrary to what is typically observed at this time of year, the number of cases among those under 15 is declining (a trend also observed at the national level), while the number of cases among those 15 and older is increasing.
Monitoring of seasonal illnesses:
bronchiolitis: after a brief lull (during the first week of school break), diagnoses of bronchiolitis are rising again in the region, while the decline continues at the national level,
flu-like syndromes: flu activity remains low, both in the region and across France. While SOS Médecins data show a slight increase in the region, flu activity remains lower than what was observed last year at the same time of year,
Gastroenteritis: Sentinelles data report a clear crossing of the epidemic threshold regarding the incidence rate for acute diarrhea (571 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the region, compared to a threshold of 282 cases). The winter gastroenteritis epidemic has likely begun, though this remains to be confirmed by a second week of increases. Visits to emergency departments and requests from SOS Médecins regarding gastroenteritis are also rising sharply.
