Public Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of December 26, 2013.

Key Points

  • Bronchiolitis: increasing activity in the Languedoc-Roussillon region; visits to emergency departments for bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age rose sharply in week 52 of 2013, as did the activity of SOS Médecins associations related to this diagnosis. Given the trajectory of the epidemic curve, it is highly likely that the epidemic peak in our region will be reached within the next two weeks.

  • Influenza: activity remains low in the Languedoc-Roussillon region and in France; after consolidation, data from the unified GROG and Sentinelles network show no clear increase in consultations for influenza-like illness in primary care.

  • Gastroenteritis: activity remains moderate in the Languedoc-Roussillon region; however, data from the Sentinelles network and the SOS Médecins network show an upward trend in recent weeks.
