Public Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of December 18, 2015.

Key Points

Bronchiolitis: a very active outbreak in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, where more than 150 emergency room visits occurred in week 2015-50, 35% of which resulted in hospitalization. The peak of the outbreak has not yet been reached in the region (next week or the week after). The use of SOS Médecins or emergency departments continues to rise in France.

Bronchitis: increased use of SOS Médecins in the region and across France for this reason. A slight upward trend is noted based on emergency department data.

Pneumonia: activity is low compared to last year, but slightly increasing, both in France and in the region.

Gastroenteritis: moderate activity in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, but SOS Médecins associations reported a sharp increase in gastroenteritis diagnoses (+70% between weeks 49 and 50 of 2015). Note that half of the patients were under 15 years of age.

Influenza: the epidemic has not yet begun in the region
