Public Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of August 7, 2014.

Key Points

  • Vector-borne diseases: Since the start of enhanced surveillance for chikungunya and dengue, 91 reports of clinically suggestive cases of either disease have been received. Of these, 43 were confirmed as chikungunya and 7 as dengue. All of these cases contracted the disease while traveling in an endemic area (imported cases). To date, no indigenous cases have been reported in Languedoc-Roussillon.

  • Monitoring of hospital and medical activity in the region: The figures are consistent with those typically observed at this time of year.
