Public Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of August 21, 2014.

Key Points

  • Vector-borne diseases: Since the start of enhanced surveillance for chikungunya and dengue, 107 reports of clinically suggestive cases of either disease have been received by the Languedoc-Roussillon Regional Health Agency (ARS). Of these, 48 were confirmed as chikungunya and 9 as dengue. All of these cases contracted the disease while traveling in an endemic area (imported cases). To date, no indigenous cases have been reported in Languedoc-Roussillon.

  • Hospital and medical activity in the region: no particular trend observed.
