Key development

In Occitanie, since May 1, 2016, 264 suspected cases have been reported in the 8 departments under enhanced surveillance:

  • no locally acquired cases have been identified;

  • 104 imported cases (i.e., from travelers returning from areas where the virus is circulating) of Zika, 26 of dengue, and 4 of chikungunya have been confirmed.

Nationwide, from May 1 to October 13, 2016:

  • No cases of local vector-borne transmission;

  • 3 cases of Zika virus infection through sexual transmission have been confirmed;

  • 426 imported cases (i.e., from travelers returning from areas where the virus is circulating) of Zika, 139 of dengue, 1 case of dengue/Zika co-infection, and 13 cases of chikungunya were confirmed.
