Public Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon and Midi-Pyrénées. Epidemiological Update as of August 3, 2016.

Key development

In Languedoc-Roussillon and Midi-Pyrénées, since May 1, 2016, 155 suspected cases have been reported in the 8 departments under enhanced surveillance:

  • no locally acquired cases have been identified,

  • 53 imported cases (i.e., from areas where the virus is circulating) of Zika, 18 of dengue, 1 of Flavivirus (unspecified), and 1 of chikungunya have been confirmed.

Nationwide, from May 1 to July 28, 2016:

  • No cases of local vector-borne transmission,

  • 2 cases of Zika virus infection through sexual transmission have been confirmed,

  • 200 imported cases (i.e., from travelers returning from areas where the virus is circulating) of Zika, 72 of dengue, and 4 of chikungunya were confirmed.
