Health Surveillance in Occitanie. Epidemiological Update as of December 20, 2016.

Key Points

Influenza and influenza-like illnesses: The flu epidemic is now well established in our region. Indicators in primary care, emergency departments, intensive care units, and nursing homes are on the rise in week 50. The eastern part of the Occitanie region is most affected by this increase. According to national virological data from outpatient samples, the dominant virus is A(H3N2).

Bronchiolitis (in children under 2 years of age): The Occitanie region has been in an epidemic phase for bronchiolitis since week 2016-48. The epidemic peak is approaching, and the arrival of influenza viruses will help to bring the bronchiolitis epidemic under control.

Gastroenteritis: No particular trend, although sustained activity is observed in outpatient care.
