Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of March 20, 2015.
Key Points
Flu-like illnesses: In the Languedoc-Roussillon region, as in the rest of France, the epidemic continues to subside, and visits to emergency rooms and SOS Médecins clinics are declining significantly. The number of flu tests performed in the region’s university hospitals is decreasing, as is the positivity rate. The epidemic is nearing its end (likely this week or next week).
Pneumonia: visits to emergency departments for this illness have almost returned to baseline levels in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. More generally, there is a clear decline across France.
Gastroenteritis: In the region and across France, activity related to this illness remains fairly high in emergency departments, at SOS Médecins clinics, and in private practices. Children under 6 years of age account for 80% of emergency department visits for this reason in the region and across France during week 2015-11.
Allergies: The cypress pollen season is currently underway in the region.
