Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of January 29, 2015.
Key Points
Influenza: Active influenza circulation in the Languedoc-Roussillon region for the third consecutive week. Use of SOS Médecins services and emergency departments continues to rise sharply, up 25% and 96%, respectively, between weeks 3 and 4 of 2015. The same trend is observed nationwide.
Gastroenteritis: A clear decrease in gastroenteritis diagnoses is observed across various data sources. However, the viruses associated with this illness continue to circulate. Nationally, visits to emergency departments and SOS Médecins remain high.
Bronchiolitis: In weeks 2015-03 and 4, emergency department visits for bronchiolitis increased slightly. Among children under 2 years of age, this disease remains the second leading cause of emergency department visits and the leading cause of hospitalization.
Pneumonia: Emergency room visits for this illness have decreased in the Languedoc-Roussillon region but remain at a high level, higher than what was observed in the two previous seasons.
