Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of January 16, 2014.

Key Points

  • Bronchiolitis: in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, a sharp decline in activity during week 2014-02 (the peak was therefore likely reached in week 1); epidemic activity is declining sharply in all regions of mainland France;

  • Influenza: in the region, visits to emergency departments and SOS Médecins for flu-like symptoms continue to rise; the first severe case of influenza was reported in Hérault during week 2014-01;

  • Gastroenteritis: decrease in visits to emergency departments and SOS Médecins associations in the Languedoc-Roussillon region; slight decrease in visits nationwide;

  • Clusters of early-stage syphilis cases have been reported by the Montpellier CDAG among men aged 20 to 40, exceeding the data typically collected by the RésIST surveillance network. Vigilance is required regarding compatible clinical presentations.
