Key Facts

In Occitanie, since May 1, 2019, 108 cases have been confirmed
:- 98 imported cases (i.e., travelers returning from areas where the virus is circulating) of dengue (25% of which were travelers returning from Réunion Island), 2 of Zika, and 8 of chikungunya have been confirmed;
- 0 confirmed locally acquired cases.

Nationwide, from May 1 to October 4, 2019
:- 502 imported cases (i.e., travelers returning from areas where the virus is circulating) of dengue (16% of which were travelers returning from Réunion Island), 48 cases of chikungunya, and 5 cases of Zika.
- 8 locally acquired cases of dengue (1 cluster of 7 cases in the Alpes-Maritimes and 1 case pending confirmation in the Rhône department)

A dengue epidemic is currently underway on Réunion Island, with more than 17,921 confirmed cases of dengue reported between the beginning of 2019 and September 8, 2019. The number of confirmed cases continues to decline, a trend that began in mid-May.
