Key Facts

In Occitanie, since May 1, 2019, 82 cases have been confirmed
:- 74 imported cases (i.e., returning from areas where the virus is circulating) of dengue, 7 of chikungunya, and 1 of Zika;
- 0 locally acquired cases.

Nationwide, from May 1 to August 23, 2019
:- 340 imported cases (i.e., travelers returning from areas where the virus is circulating) of dengue (24% of which were travelers returning from Réunion Island), 36 cases of chikungunya, and 4 cases of Zika.

A dengue epidemic is currently underway on Réunion Island, with more than 17,990 cases of dengue (biologically confirmed or probable) reported between the beginning of 2019 and July 28, 2019. The number of confirmed cases continues to decline, a trend that began in mid-May.
